2010 Awards Event
4th Annual ScottCares Foundation
Scholarship & Humanitarian Awards Event

Committed to showing “Leadership through the Arts”, the
ScottCares Foundation announces their eight student scholarship recipients, and their four
esteemed community humanitarian honorees of whom will be honored at the 4th Annual
Scholarship & Humanitarian Awards event, Friday, June 4th at 7p.m. at the Hawthorne
Inn and Conference Center, Sycamore Ballroom I & II.
Last year, the Foundation awarded scholarships to 10 high school seniors. This year,
eight students across Forsyth County will walk away with scholarships to support their
dreams of higher learning in the field of the arts.
“We've had the privilege of having a group of very talented candidates come through our
Foundation this year; however, it's been quite a challenge awarding scholarships to all of
them, due to lack of funding,” said Wynton Carter, scholarship committee chairperson,
who admits the non-profit foundation has felt the impact of the fallen economy. “But
we’re grateful to award the scholarship funds we do have, which in turn helps the
students and their families offset education costs.”
Despite the tough economic times and slim support of donations that afforded the
Foundation to award eight students $1,000 each in 2008, and between $500-$1000 in
2009, this time around the 4-year old Foundation will award eight college-bound high
school students to pursue higher education in the arts $500 each.
Salaam says that with more donations, he will increase the amount of each student’s
scholarship.
In addition to putting on annual step shows and other fundraising events, the awards
celebration on June 4th serves as their major fundraiser to support the ScottCares
Foundation Scholarship Fund.
Individual tickets costs $55; $100/couple, and a table of eight is $400. Those interested in
attending should RSVP at rsvp@scottcaresnc.org by May 28. Tickets can be purchased
here through June 3rd.
